A plan matched to your needs and level of risk

Alcohol use disorder can range from mild to severe. Harbor reviews drinking patterns, withdrawal history, physical health, medications, mental health, social supports, and treatment goals before recommending an outpatient plan or referral to a higher level of care.

Clinical assessment

A structured review of current needs, risks, strengths, and appropriate level of care.

Counseling

Support for triggers, coping skills, motivation, relationships, relapse prevention, and long-term goals.

Medication support

Prescriber evaluation and medication coordination; Vivitrol may be administered onsite when clinically appropriate.

Continuing care

Aftercare planning and connections to recovery, medical, behavioral-health, and community supports.

Medical warning

Alcohol withdrawal can be life-threatening

People who drink heavily or have had severe withdrawal should not abruptly stop without medical guidance. Seizures, hallucinations, severe confusion, fever, uncontrolled vomiting, or rapidly worsening symptoms require emergency care.

Harbor does not provide inpatient or emergency detoxification. Staff can help identify appropriate treatment resources after an assessment, but emergencies should not wait for an office appointment.

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department for severe or rapidly worsening symptoms.

Medication is one part of treatment

A prescriber may discuss FDA-approved medication options based on the patient’s condition and goals. Medication works best as part of a broader plan that includes counseling, monitoring, recovery supports, and attention to physical and behavioral health.
